Rijo Presbot: “for the first time investment projects of the PGE 2022 arose from Provincial Development Councils”

During a meeting with journalists, the general director of the Budget, José Rijo Presbot, indicated that 94.9% of the public investment projects included in the 2022 General State Budget Law Project are linked to the Provincial Development Councils.

That is to say, they arose from the meetings of President Luis Abinader with neighborhood councils and Provincial Councils of Ministers, he said.

Rijo Presbot said that, The Draft Law on the General State Budget 2022 evidences a clear link with the National Development Strategy 2030, the Government of Change program and its corresponding instrumentalization in a National Multi-year Public Sector Plan 2021-2024.

President Abinader has assigned numerous provincial meetings between government authorities and community leaders at the national level, and weekly meetings are held with neighborhood councils from different communities, with the aim of meeting the needs of each place and its people. The result of this is evidenced in the linking of the Budget for next year and the fulfillment of the Government plan.

Rijo Presbot’s statements were made during a meeting to present to journalists from different media, the draft General State Budget Law for 2022 and was carried out at the General Budget Directorate (DIGEPRES), together with a team of technicians and budget specialists of the institution.

At the meeting, Rijo Presbot presented the main points and items included in the draft General State Budget Law for 2022, among which he highlighted Health, Justice, Social Security and Education.

Rijo Presbot explained that by 2022 the Budget guarantees resources for the right to health and universalization of Social Security, as one of the main axes. Allocating RD $ 4,569.4 million for the construction, reconstruction and improvement of the hospital infrastructure.

The Budget Director also stated that“This Government is committed to a quality public education, strengthening of school infrastructure and construction, reconstruction and improvement of buildings, for which RD $ 11,201.3 million are consigned.”

He also said that 600,000 boys, girls and adolescents will receive social services for student support and 32,500 high school students will participate in extracurricular activities.

Similarly, the General Budget Bill provides comprehensive care for a total of 130,296 older adults, with an assigned amount of RD $ 1,510.8 million.
