Rigoberto Urán: “Roglic and Remco are the ultra favourites”

Rigoberto Urán returns to the Giro d’Italia after seven years. The Colombian cyclist will run the Grand Tour for the seventh time, in which he has already achieved two stage wins and two podiums, after occupying second place in both 2013 and 2014, and he did not hide his joy at returning to the country that adopted him when he left from Urrao, Antioquia.

“Happy because we are going to have 21 days to talk shit, to have fun. Many years without coming to the Giro because the one who rules, rules. The team sends me and they always send me to the Tour, but they told me that if I wanted to go to the Giro I had the opportunity, but I also had to ride the Tour”, assured the cyclist in a video published on GoRigoGo and Just Cycling Channel.

“It is special because it was the country that I arrived when I left, when I left Urrao I arrived in Italy, my contact with Italy adopted me by a family that has been an important part of my life, I also have many fans. There are many special things and I have achieved two podiums in the Giro and I have won two stages and I have had good races, so of the few results that I have several are in Italy “complemented the corridor.

Rigoberto Urán also referred to Primoz Roglic and Remco Evenepoel, the two great favorites to win the Giro d’Italia and although he highlighted the importance of the Team Jumbo Visma and Soudal Quick-Step riders, respectively, however, he also trusts their EF Education-EasyPost colleagues. The key will be to have good legs.

It gives a lot of happiness to run with two greats like Roglic and Remco who are the favorite ultras, to be able to be with them and compete. This gives the race more interest and we have to push our ass more, but it doesn’t matter”, he stated about the two great figures that the competition will have.

“There is a good team, a young team with good riders. This Giro is very long and everything can happen from snowing to reaching 35 degrees, the most important thing is to sleep well, eat well, rest well and not get sickhave a regular condition throughout the race”, he concluded.
