Irish golfer Shane Lowry established an early lead at the India Championship on Thursday, finishing the first round eight strokes under par in New Delhi.
Lowry carded a 64, placing him one shot ahead of Japan’s Keita Nakajima.
Nakajima, last year’s Indian Open champion, recorded a score of 65, seven strokes under par.
The tournament is a stop on the DP World Tour.
Portuguese golfer Ricardo Melo Gouveia ended the opening day tied in 64th place.
Gouveia completed his first round with an even par 72. His performance included five birdies, three bogeys, and one double bogey, indicating an inconsistent start to the competition.
