A drop of milk hanging from a female nipple. The poster for Pedro Almodóvar’s new film, “Parallel Mothers”, apparently upset the Instagram algorithm, which decided to censor it, temporarily, for breach of the terms of use, thus causing a new outcry on social networks.
“What a shame on Instagram,” the author of the poster, Spanish graphic designer Javier Jaén, reacted quickly by posting a screenshot of the social network explaining the removal of the image on Monday for not respecting its “rules of use.” Adding: “As expected, Instagram has removed the poster (…) I put it back online. Thanks for sharing “.
The poster features a black and white nipple from which a drop of milk hangs, inside one eye on a red background, all giving the impression of a crying eye.
The case generated numerous comments in the Spanish media and on social networks. They all denounce Instagram’s strict policy on nudity and the fight against pornography.
Parallel Mothers, which will premiere on September 10 in Spanish theaters, will open the 78th edition of the Venice Film Festival, where it will be in competition and which will be held from September 1 to 11.
