At least five people were injured on the evening of Friday July 28 in a Russian strike on the town of Dnipro in central-eastern Ukraine. A multi-storey apartment building was hit. The attack came hours after Moscow announced it had intercepted two Ukrainian missiles over southwestern Russia. The fall of debris from one of them caused at least 15 minor injuries in the city of Taganrog (southwest of Russia).

The Ukrainian government still does not communicate on the official number of soldiers who fell at the front, no doubt so as not to discourage the troops and the population in the rear who support them and do not doubt victory. In Lviv, every day since the beginning of this war, the inhabitants pay homage during an official ceremony to their heroes killed in combat.

That morning, the city wakes up with a coffee on the terrace, a newlywed couple takes pictures in front of the town hall, the yellow tram passes behind them, when suddenly everything freezes. A trumpet plays a funeral tune, announcing the hearses carrying the coffins of two soldiers. They stop in front of the town hall, just like the passers-by, who get down on one knee and place their hand on their heart. “I think we must know these heroes, they were sons, fiancés or fathers of someonebreathes Lola, who is walking with her mother. You have to be aware that the freedom of the country, that of drinking a quiet coffee here, is thanks to them“, greets the young woman.

“There are many things that cannot be told”
In Lviv, everyone has a father, a brother, a cousin in battle or like Olesa, “friends“. There are many calls, messages sent, but it is very difficult to know what they live on the front. “There are many things that cannot be told, we talk about generalities: how are you, health, life, etc., slips the young woman. I know that some are very close to the border with Russia, others were imprisoned by the Russians and were released and they continue to defend us“, says Olesa. Despite the almost daily parade of coffins before her eyes, she remains confident.
“No doubt, no. We don’t know when the victory will come, but it will come”.

Petro Adamek, deputy mayor of Lviv, also believes in victory, provided, he says, that the support of Ukraine’s allies continues. “We need to support ourselves with more modern and technological weapons so that we can fight the Russians faster, asks the chosen one. We have no doubt about our victory but without your help it will be more complicated“, he continues.

In Lviv, more than 200 soldiers now rest in the military cemetery created especially at the start of the war. Two new graves have been visible there since Friday, those of Stanislav Savochka, 26, and Stepan Lozinskiy, 38, who both died in combat.
