Renukaswamy Murder: SC Cancels Actor Darshan’s Bail, Cites High Court Flaws

The legal drama surrounding actor Darshan took a major turn today. The Supreme Court has canceled his bail in the Renukaswamy murder case. This means police can now arrest the actor. This big decision comes after the top court reserved its judgment yesterday.

The Supreme Court had been reviewing a petition filed by the Karnataka government. They asked the court to revoke the High Court’s decision to grant bail to Darshan.

High Court Order Had Flaws

A bench of Justices J.B. Pardiwala and R. Mahadevan delivered the ruling. They stated that the Karnataka High Court’s order had “serious flaws.” The justices pointed out that the High Court’s process seemed “mechanical.” They also noted that the High Court looked into the case too deeply before the trial even began.

The Supreme Court judges made it clear that the lower court is the correct place to handle such matters. They confirmed that Darshan’s bail was being canceled due to strong accusations and forensic proof. Therefore, the actor’s bail plea was rejected.

Karnataka Government Challenged Bail

This ruling came from an appeal by the Karnataka government. They challenged the High Court’s order from December 13, 2024. That order had granted bail to Darshan and his co-accused. The Supreme Court had sent notices to Darshan, actress Pavithra Gowda, and others on January 24, based on the state government’s petition.
