Meet the vision 4rescue, a demo-car that’s part of a high-tech ecosystem designed to help emergency services work more efficiently. It’s based on the Renault 4 E-Tech electric car and was developed in partnership with firefighters.
The vision 4rescue is a fully operational vehicle that explores how design can serve the community and support a more efficient and coordinated response from emergency services. Renault has been working with firefighters from 19 countries, including Portugal, for over 15 years to understand their needs.
A High-Tech Ecosystem
The demo-car is part of an ecosystem developed by Software République, a group of seven French companies with expertise in intelligent, secure, and sustainable mobility. The ecosystem has 20 interconnected solutions that help normalize the different technologies used by emergency services for a faster and more coordinated response.
The vision 4rescue works as a mobile command center, analyzing situations and adapting emergency responses in real-time. It also features innovative equipment like a surveillance drone and specialized storage compartments.
A Design That Adapts to Each Mission
The vision 4rescue is based on the Renault 4 E-Tech electric car and has a robust and elevated body. It also features a second electric motor on the rear axle for permanent four-wheel drive, allowing it to perform its mission in any terrain.
The vehicle’s design is inspired by the world of emergency services, with strong contrasts between matte and glossy materials. The new red paint job is inspired by the colors of flames, with fluorescent green and yellow lines that express urgency.
An Interior That Facilitates the Work of Firefighters
The interior of the vision 4rescue was designed in close collaboration with firefighters, with safety in mind. The dashboard is based on the Renault 4 E-Tech electric car but with references to the world of firefighters.
The rear door of the vision 4rescue opens to a compartmentalized trunk:
- The top part features a sliding table and two screens connected to a high-performance computer, turning the vehicle into a mobile office. This allows emergency services to control the surveillance drone and communicate with other responders on the ground using the roof box’s connectivity antennas.
- The lower part has two storage boxes designed to store emergency equipment, including helmets and bags, as well as electronic equipment like tablets and walkie-talkies, which remain always charged.
The vision 4rescue takes full advantage of the Renault 4 E-Tech electric car’s genetic makeup: the low loading sill and the flat, rectangular trunk make it easy to install and use the storage boxes, while the long rear door protects the mobile command center from the elements.
