Renault’s iconic 5 model is back, and this time it’s electric. The company just opened orders for the Renault 5 E-Tech electric Five, the most affordable version of the car, priced at just €24,900. This move is part of Renault’s plan to make electric cars more accessible to everyone.
The Renault 5 E-Tech electric has already seen significant success, with over 40,000 units sold across Europe since its launch in February 2024. In fact, it became the best-selling electric car in the private market just last April.
So, what makes the Five version special? It combines the best features of the Renault 5, including its emotional design, 18-inch wheels, and dedicated electric platform, into a more affordable package. The car is powered by a 70 kW (95 hp) motor, with 215 Nm of torque and a 40 kWh battery that provides up to 312 km of range on a single charge.
Charging is easy, thanks to the 11 kW AC charger that can take the battery from 15% to 80% in just 2 hours and 37 minutes. The car also features a dual-screen OpenR system, with a 7-inch instrument cluster and a 10-inch multimedia screen that’s compatible with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.
But that’s not all – the Renault 5 E-Tech electric Five also offers a range of convenient features, including two USB-C ports, full LED headlights, manual air conditioning, and an electric parking brake. And with its multi-link rear axle and low center of gravity, the car is just as fun to drive as the rest of the Renault 5 range.
For those who need a bit more versatility, Renault is also introducing a new version of the 5 E-Tech electric with a 52 kWh battery and a 90 kW motor. This version, called the Evolution, starts at €31,000 and offers up to 410 km of range on a single charge. It also comes with a dual charger that can take the battery from 15% to 80% in just 30 minutes, making it perfect for long road trips.
Overall, the Renault 5 E-Tech electric is an exciting new option for anyone looking to make the switch to an electric car. With its affordable price, convenient features, and fun driving experience, it’s an ideal choice for daily commutes or weekend getaways. And with the new Evolution version, Renault is offering even more options for customers who need a bit more range and versatility.
