Remo Parts Ways With António Oliveira, Coach Leaves Série B Club

António Oliveira is no longer Remo's coach

The coaching carousel keeps spinning in Brazilian football. Clube do Remo, a team currently competing in Brazil’s second division, Série B, has announced a change at the top. Portuguese coach António Oliveira is no longer guiding the Belém-based squad. The news broke through an official statement the club shared across its social media platforms.

The decision came after an intense meeting this past Sunday, September 21st. The club’s board, with executive Marcos Braz at the helm, sat down with Coach Oliveira. They talked things through and ultimately reached a mutual agreement to part ways. This wasn’t just about the head coach either; the entire technical staff will also be leaving their roles.

Remo’s statement expressed gratitude to Oliveira and his team. They wished everyone well for their future careers. Now, the focus quickly shifts to finding the next leader. The club needs a new coach to steer the team through the rest of the current season. It’s a challenging time, with big decisions ahead for the "azulinos," as fans call them, referring to their blue colors.

Oliveira’s time with Remo was brief, beginning just a few months ago on June 21st. His first match was a tough one, a 1-0 loss against Paysandu during the 13th round of the Série B. He went on to manage 13 more games after that debut. Over his 14 matches in charge, he saw his team win four times, draw six, and lose four.

He leaves Remo in 7th place in the Série B standings, with 39 points. This puts the team just four points shy of the top four spots. Those coveted positions offer a golden ticket: promotion to Brazil’s top flight, the Brasileirão. The club now faces the task of reigniting its promotion hopes under new leadership.
