Remco Evenepoel Dominates Dauphine Time Trial

Remco Evenepoel is on fire. The Belgian cyclist just crushed the time trial in the Critérium du Dauphiné, finishing 21 seconds ahead of Jonas Vingegaard and 49 seconds ahead of Tadej Pogacar.
Evenepoel’s win puts him in the lead overall. He’s also the Olympic champion in this event.
He finished the 17.4-kilometer course in 20 minutes and 50 seconds.

Evenepoel says he just wanted to win and see what happened. He’s proud of his achievement.
This win is also the 1000th victory for his team, Soudal Quick-Step.

Matteo Jorgenson came in third, 38 seconds behind Evenepoel. Vingegaard and Pogacar are now fifth and eighth overall.
Vingegaard says he’s satisfied with his performance, given that Evenepoel is the best time trialist in the world.

The next stage is on Thursday, covering 183 kilometers from Saint-Priest to Mâcon.
Evenepoel is now in the yellow jersey, with a four-second lead over Florian Lipowitz.

Ruben Guerreiro, the only Portuguese rider, finished 128th, 3 minutes and 50 seconds behind Evenepoel. He’s now 73rd overall, 4 minutes and 49 seconds behind the leader.

The general classification has Evenepoel in the lead, followed by Lipowitz, and then Vingegaard 16 seconds back. Pogacar is eighth, 38 seconds behind Evenepoel.
