Reijnders to undergo Manchester City medical on Sunday

Manchester City is on the verge of landing Tijjani Reijnders. The Dutch international will undergo medical tests on Sunday. This news came from none other than Ronald Koeman, the Netherlands’ coach, during a press conference.

Before the Netherlands face Finland in a World Cup 2026 qualifier, Koeman confirmed Reijnders’ upcoming medical tests. The midfielder will join Manchester City in a deal worth €55 million, plus an additional €15 million in variables. He’s set to sign a five-year contract.

Reijnders’ impressive stats made him a top target. Last season, he led Serie A midfielders in goals and assists, with 15 goal contributions. He scored ten goals for Milan. Despite his individual success, Milan finished eighth in the Italian league and won’t play in European club competitions. Reijnders joined Milan in 2023 from AZ Alkmaar.

Why the rush?

Manchester City wants Reijnders for the Club World Cup in the United States. The transfer window for the competition closes on Tuesday. Coach Josep Guardiola is eager to have Reijnders on board. With Reijnders’ medical tests scheduled for Sunday, the deal is nearing completion.
