Regional organization begins innovation program for women entrepreneurs in Central America; includes DR

The Regional Center for the Promotion of MSMEs (Cenpromype) reported this Saturday that it has launched an innovation program for women entrepreneurs from Central America and the Caribbean, who work in the agri-food, processed food, beverage, healthy products, handicrafts, footwear, among others.

The initiative, called "active"seeks to strengthen micro, small and medium entrepreneurs from Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua and the Dominican Republicthrough the development of their technical capacities in finance that allow them to refine their business model and improve their opportunities to access financing, explained the organizers.

Cenpromype, which works on the program with the Luxembourg Development Cooperation Agency, indicated in a written statement that businesswomen will have access to a specialized network of experts and spaces to generate value connections in the business ecosystem.

Companies with the greatest potential for growth and impact will be able to access reimbursable financing opportunities of up to $20,000 to scale their business, according to the information.

The program is part of the initiatives to support entrepreneurs and micro, small and medium-sized companies, led by women, developed by Cenpromype, in alliance with the Alterna platform and the social enterprises LUUM and Seed by EY.

This initiative seeks impact business models led by women within the following sectors: agri-food, processed foods, beverages and healthy products such as snacks, cookies or desserts, jellies, sauces, cereals, honey, chocolate, and spices.

In addition, handicrafts, handmade products, clothing and decoration for personal care, for the home, fabrics, footwear, jewelry, accessories, decorative art, wood and bamboo.

In the case of Nicaragua, this initiative invited businesswomen to apply for an opportunity to enhance their business models.
