Due to rain in the final match of IPL season 16, the game could not be started till now. In this match played between Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Gujarat Titans, due to rain since the night, the match is expected to go under the reserve day. In such a situation, referee Nitin Menon made it clear that he would try to end the match today.
Speaking to the announcers, the two on-field referees for the final match, Nitin Menon and Rod Tucker, said that. When we went to the ground after the rain stopped around 9 o’clock, the conditions were much better. Whereas before that it was raining continuously for 3 hours. We were hopeful that we would resume play soon. But suddenly it started to rain again. We can start the game at 12:06, but for that the gardener needs 1 hour to prepare the field.
The referees also said that we will try to finish the game today. But for that the rain has to stop until 11 o’clock. If this does not happen, we will carry out this match on the day of booking.

If the final match of this season to be played between Chennai and Gujarat does not start on time then it will take place on the day of booking. This will be seen for the first time in IPL history when the final match takes place on Reserve Day.
