Portuguese football referee Fábio Veríssimo has reported an alleged attempt by FC Porto to influence his officiating team by displaying controversial match replays on a television inside their dressing room.
The incident occurred during Sunday’s league match at Estádio do Dragão in Porto, Portugal, where FC Porto defeated Sporting Braga 2-1. Veríssimo has communicated the event to league delegates and included it in his official match report.
According to the referee’s account, when his team entered their dressing room at halftime, a television was showing Sport TV footage on loop. The device was reportedly unable to be turned off.
The replays focused on first-half incidents from the game, specifically highlighting a disallowed goal by Sporting Braga’s Froholdt due to a foul attributed to Bednarek.
This alleged display of replays reportedly occurred again at the end of the match.
In addition to footage from the current game, the television also showed a goal scored by Benfica against FC Porto during a past youth tournament final. The news of Veríssimo’s complaint was initially reported by Correio da Manhã and subsequently confirmed by Record.
