Record rise in child suicides in Japan

TOKYO: Japan has seen a record rise in child suicides over the past 40 years.

According to a report by a foreign news agency, a survey report by the Ministry of Education of Japan states that in 2021, 415 primary and high school children lost their lives.

Japan recorded 100 more suicides this year than last.

The Ministry of Education says about 200,000 children have been absent from school for more than a month due to the epidemic.

According to the survey results, changes in schools and the home environment have had a profound effect on children’s behavior.

According to the report, Japan has the highest suicide rate out of remorse and embarrassment, but after 15 years of national efforts, it has dropped by 40 percent.

The Corona epidemic led to an increase in suicides in 2020, with a large number of women dying of coronary heart disease, while the number of men committing suicide was lower.
