Record of 69 years broken, Rishabh Pant achieved another great achievement

In the Edgbaston Test, India team batsman Rishabh Pant has recorded another great achievement on their behalf. After scoring 146 runs in the first innings here, as soon as he completed 16 runs in the second innings, he became the highest scoring Indian goalkeeper batsman in a test outside of Asia. He broke Vijay Manjrekar’s record of 161 runs made 69 years ago.

Former Indian batsman and goalkeeper Vijay Manjrekar scored 43 runs in the first innings and 118 runs in the second innings at Kingston in 1953. For 69 years, no Indian goalkeeper could break this record. In the past three years, Pant has come close to this record twice. In the year 2011, Dhoni was also close to this record, but this record could not be broken. However, at Edgbaston, Pant achieved this achievement by showing solid play in both of his innings. Rishabh here scored half a century in the second inning after a century in the first inning. He scored 203 runs in this test.
