Ollie Robinson conceded a total of 43 runs in one over

In a remarkable feat, a new record has been set in the County Championship in England, marking the first of its kind in the 134-year history of the tournament. Just days ago, England spinner Shoaib Bashir set a record with an over of 38 runs in the County Championship Division Two, played for Warwickshire. Another English cricketer, Ollie Robinson, playing for Sussex in the County Championship Division Two, also broke the record with an over of 46 runs in the match against Leicestershire, making it the most expensive over ever recorded.

Robinson bowled an over of 9 balls

In the match, Ollie Robinson bowled an over of 9 balls and conceded a total of 43 runs. Lewis Kimber, a Leicestershire batsman, started by hitting a six on the first ball, followed by a four on the second ball, making it a total of 10 runs. The third ball saw another four, and then a six was hit on the fourth ball. On the fifth ball, Kimber hit a four again, adding six runs to the total due to a no-ball. On the sixth ball, which was another no-ball, Kimber scored another four, and on the seventh ball, a regular ball was hit for a four, scoring six more runs. The final ball of the over was scored as a run, making the total of this over 43 runs.

2 runs are awarded on a no-ball in the county

In the County Championship, two runs are added to the bowler’s account for throwing a no-ball. In this instance, while Lewis Kimber scored a total of 39 runs in this over, six of those runs were no-balls. As a result, Ollie Robinson’s over stands as the second most expensive over in first-class cricket, with the record for the most expensive over still held by Robert Vance, who gave away 77 runs in an over 8 balls back in 1989-90, played between Wellington vs Canterbury.
