The first elimination challenge on ‘La Isla: Desafío Extremo’ saw six nominees face off to secure their spot in the reality show. The intense final duel pitted José María Galeano from the Sharks team against Zoraida Gómez of the Eagles team. The Mexican actress ultimately lost the competition.
The decisive challenge required both contestants to assemble a large puzzle depicting a burning flame. While the contest was tight, the Spanish actor, Galeano, demonstrated greater speed, placing the highest piece before Gómez could complete hers.
Galeano celebrated with his team, raising his hands in relief. Zoraida, showing gestures of regret, recognized the verdict of her expulsion from ‘La Isla’.
“Although it was a short time, I feel it was very intense,” Gómez expressed during her farewell. She received an embrace from host Héctor Suárez Gomis and applause from her fellow competitors.
Gómez added, “That Low Beach I will never forget, much less my team, my captain, and the people I had the opportunity to meet.” She noted a personal transformation from the experience.
“I leave happy because I was able to let go of many things I was carrying. All experiences transform, and these did so for the better,” Gómez continued. “Now I know I can level up, overcome my limits, and be on a Low Beach for more than five days without food. I will continue supporting my Eagles.”
‘La Isla: Desafío Extremo’ features distinct living conditions, categorized as High Beach, Mid Beach, and Low Beach. Accommodations range from comfortable beds on High Beach to sleeping bags on the ground in the less desirable Low Beach, with similar disparities in food and entertainment.
Zoraida Gómez, 40, hails from Mexico City. She is widely known for her role as “José Luján Senderos” in the popular youth telenovela ‘Rebelde’. Prior to ‘La Isla’, she also participated in other reality shows, including ‘Inseparables: amor al límite’ in 2022 and ‘Exatlón México’ in 2017.
The show’s format involves weekly elimination challenges every Monday. Victories in various trials grant captaincies, immunities, and other rewards. Eliminations are decided by participant votes, leading to a final challenge between the last three contestants for the championship.
The grand prize for the ultimate survivor of ‘La Isla: Desafío Extremo’ is $200,000 USD.
Héctor Suárez Gomis hosts ‘La Isla: Desafío Extremo’, which airs Monday through Friday and on Sundays at 7 p.m. ET/6 p.m. CT on Telemundo. Episodes are also available for simultaneous streaming on its official app and Peacock.
