Real Sociedad and Atlético de Madrid are close to completing a significant deal for promising left-back Javi Galán. The 29-year-old, originally from Badajoz, had considered a move to Villarreal but ultimately decided to join the Txuri Urdin team on loan until the end of the season as the operation is at an advanced stage.
The news was announced by Radio Marca Donostia and Galán's signing is expected to be completed in a few hours as the player is keen to join the team led by Imanol Alguacil. This move from Real Sociedad comes in response to the serious injury suffered by Aihen Muñoz, who will not return until next season at the earliest.
Galán, who did not enjoy enough minutes under Diego Simeone at Atlético de Madrid, is excited at the prospect of playing in the Champions League and has decided to end an ongoing operation at Villarreal. The defender is known for his attacking style of play and his ability to cross the ball.
An immediate performance signing
Galán's adjustment should be immediate as he also has experience in the Spanish league alongside Atlético, having played for Huesca and Celta. The left-back has been looking for a way out in this winter market and sees Real Sociedad as the perfect opportunity to continue his footballing development.
Galán is expected to be available for the upcoming game against Rayo Vallecano at the Reale Arena, marking a crucial addition for Real Sociedad at a crucial stage of the season.
