Real Madrid signings: The ‘9’ Ancelotti asked Florentino about in January

Real Madrid are looking to strengthen their attacking front and while Vinicius is out due to injury, Carlo Ancelotti’s eyes are on Mauro Icardi. Following the departure of Karim Benzema to Saudi football, the Whites felt the need to have a reference in the region and the Galatasaray striker presents himself as a tempting option.

Real Madrid signings: The ‘9’ Ancelotti asked Florentino about in January

The Madrid team, currently mired in the battle for La Liga, having qualified for the round of 16 of the Champions League and playing in the Copa del Rey, is looking to strengthen its attack to compete in all competitions. Ancelotti’s decision to sometimes play without a solid connection in attack makes the presence of a goalscorer like Icardi even more valuable.

With 14 goals in 16 games this season, Mauro Icardi presents himself as an attractive option for any team. With an impressive tally of 241 goals in 429 games over the course of his career, the Argentine striker embodies the quality and efficiency that Real Madrid seeks from its offensive line.

The media Tuttomercato from Italy and Mundo Deportivo from Spain report on Real Madrid’s interest in the Galatasaray striker. Icardi joins a list of attacking options that includes Rodrygo, Joselu, Brahim Díaz and Vinicius Jr. The latter is currently injured and is scheduled to return to the field in February 2024.

Icardi’s clause at Galatasaray is estimated at €15 million and rumors suggest that Real Madrid would be willing to make an offer to secure the services of the experienced 30-year-old striker. After several previous failed attempts, this could be Mauro Icardi’s opportunity to finally join the Merengue team.
