Real Madrid choose a goalkeeper, but there are very serious problems

Real Madrid have their sights set on a new goalkeeper: Yassine Bono. With Thibaut Courtois out for a long time, the Whites are in talks with Sevilla to secure the Moroccan goalkeeper’s services. Although negotiations are still ongoing, Sevilla have set a price of between €20m and €25m per bonus, the value of which was cemented by his performance at the last World Cup in Qatar, where he became his side’s hero.

Real Madrid’s interest comes after Bayern Munich initially showed interest in Bono but ultimately turned to Kepa Arrizabalaga. That decision has opened a door at the Bernabéu for the Moroccan keeper who seems to fit perfectly into the squad’s plans.

The big problem with the Moroccan goalkeeper

However, according to AS newspaper, Bono’s recruitment is something special. The player will play with Morocco at the Africa Cup of Nations between January and February 2024, which could see him missing up to 13 official games with Real Madrid. Morocco’s participation in the CAN could have a significant impact on Bono’s availability for the Whites’ commitments, including La Liga, the Copa del Rey and the Spanish Super Cup.

Real Madrid and their fans are aware of the importance of having a good and experienced goalkeeper in all tournaments. The possibility of Bono being unavailable for almost a month and a half presents a dilemma that the club must resolve. The lack of confidence in Lunin, the reserve goalkeeper, adds even more weight to this question.

Ultimately, Bono’s desire to stay in Europe rather than accept financially attractive offers from Saudi Arabia demonstrates his commitment to competing on the biggest stages. It is said from his closest circle that the Moroccan international goalkeeper is well informed about the negotiations between the two clubs as he has a keen interest in taking over the goal from Real Madrid.
