RD qualifies in first place for the Chile 2023 Pan American Games

The Dominican Republic qualified in the first positions for the Pan American Games, Chile 2023. A competition where more than 17 countries and 30 world-class athletes participate, competing after the same objective, demonstrating that they are the best in the sport of Kitesurfing.

For the Dominican Sailing Federation (FEDOVELA), this event is very exciting for Dominican sports, since it will be the first time that the country will see itself representing this discipline in the Pan American Games.

The high performance of the Dominican athlete has allowed him to stand out within this discipline where, the other countries that were represented by their best competitors worldwide and that as true professionals respected all the security measures that were presented during the event due to the conditions of the waves

About the results

In the Pan American division, the Dominican Republic leads the list with Deury Corniel, followed by Canada with Logan Sutherland and Argentina, with Federico Aguilar, in the women’s team in both the Pan American and general competition: Kirstyn Obrien from the United States, Elena Lengwiler Canada and Maria Reis from Brazil. The men’s results for the all-around competition were Milkhail Monikov, Christian Manev and Neil de Jaham, from Vanuatu, Bulgaria and France, respectively.

"From FEDOVELA we are very satisfied, because despite the difficult conditions of the waves and wind that were presented in Cabarete throughout the competition, we managed to develop 8 tests that demonstrated that even with the less favorable conditions, the beaches of Cabarete continue to be the best for the Kite”, added Raúl Aguayo, vice president of the Federation.
