Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) and Chennai Super Kings (CSK) clashed in a thrilling Indian Premier League (IPL) match that left fans divided. The controversy began when Yash Dayal’s delivery hit Dewald Brevis on the pads, prompting CSK’s appeal for a leg-before-wicket (LBW).
The Controversial Dismissal
The umpire gave Brevis out, but the CSK batsmen continued running, unaware of the decision due to a lack of signal from the umpire. They eventually completed a boundary, scoring four runs. RCB’s review of the dismissal sparked further debate, with many questioning the decision-making process.
Confusion and Frustration on Social Media
The incident ignited a firestorm on social media, with fans and experts alike expressing their opinions on the controversy. Some fans mocked CSK’s lack of awareness, while others criticized the umpire for not signaling the dismissal clearly.
- Fans joked about CSK’s batsmen being oblivious to the umpire’s decision.
- Others pointed out that the timer for the review was not displayed on the giant screen, adding to the confusion.
- Experts, like Irfan Pathan, questioned the LBW decision against Brevis.
The debate highlighted the need for clearer communication and more transparency in the decision-making process. As the IPL continues to captivate audiences worldwide, such incidents serve as a reminder of the high stakes and intense emotions involved in the sport.

First
Both batsman didn’t see umpire signalled out had they seen it they would not have gone for second. Since if signalled out then it’s a dead ball no run awarded even if it’s boundary

Timer or no timer but that was a horrible decision against Dewald Brevis.
