The Women’s Premier League 2025 has just begun, and Royal Challengers Bangalore are already facing a significant setback. Their star off-spinner, Shreyanka Patil, has been ruled out of the entire season due to an injury. This is a huge blow to the team, especially considering the crucial role she played in their previous campaign. In the first match of WPL 2025, RCB had successfully chased down a target of 202 runs against Gujarat Giants, but now they’ll have to navigate the rest of the season without one of their key players.
RCB took to social media to wish Shreyanka a speedy recovery, saying, “We know how hard you worked to get fit for WPL 2025, but unfortunately, you’ll be missing out on our campaign this year. We’ll carry your energy and spirit with us on the field, and we can’t wait to see you back in action for RCB next year.” The team posted this message on their official handle, and it’s clear that they’re going to miss her presence in the squad.
Previous Season’s Performance
Shreyanka’s injury is a significant loss for RCB, and the details of her condition are still unclear. However, the team has already announced her replacement – Sneh Rana will be joining the squad. Shreyanka had a fantastic season last year, playing a vital role in RCB’s title win. She took 13 wickets in eight matches at an economy rate of 7.30, making her a crucial part of the team’s bowling lineup.
New Addition to the Team
Sneh Rana, on the other hand, has experience playing in the WPL, having represented Gujarat Giants in the past. She’s played 12 matches and has a decent record, with six wickets at an economy rate of 9.02. What’s interesting is that she had also captained Gujarat Giants when their regular captain, Beth Mooney, was injured during the first season of the WPL. This time around, however, Gujarat Giants didn’t retain her, and she’ll be joining RCB for 30 lakhs. Sneh has also had a good run in the senior women’s One-Day Challenger Trophy and has taken 24 wickets in 25 T20 Internationals for Team India. It’ll be interesting to see how she performs for RCB in Shreyanka’s absence.
