Royal Challengers Bangalore edged out Chennai Super Kings by 2 runs in a thrilling IPL match. RCB posted 213 runs on the board, and CSK responded with 211 in 20 overs. This win has almost sealed RCB’s spot in the IPL 2025 playoffs.
CSK got off to a flying start, with opener Sheikh Rashid and 17-year-old Ayush Mhatre taking the score past 50 in just 4.3 overs. Rashid made 14, while Sam Curran was dismissed for 5. CSK lost two wickets at 58, but Mhatre and Ravindra Jadeja batted brilliantly, smashing boundaries and sixes. Mhatre scored 94 off 48 balls, with 9 fours and 5 sixes, falling just 6 runs short of becoming the second-youngest IPL centurion. The pair added 114 runs together.
The Thrill Wasn’t Over Yet
Jadeja stayed put and scored an unbeaten 77 off 45 balls, but it wasn’t enough. MS Dhoni failed again, getting out for 12 while trying to finish the game.
A Nail-Biter of a Finish
CSK needed 15 runs in the final over. Yash Dayal bowled a tense over, giving away just 2 runs on the last two balls to seal a 2-run win for RCB. On the third ball, Dayal dismissed Dhoni for LBW, and though the fourth ball was called a no-ball and Shivam Dube hit a six, Dayal held his nerve.
