RCB defeats Delhi Capitals by 8 wickets, Smriti Mandhana shines with 81 runs

RCB has secured their second consecutive win in the Women’s Premier League 2025, dominating Delhi Capitals by 8 wickets. The match, played at Kotambi Stadium in Vadodara, saw Delhi struggle to set a significant target, managing only 141 runs while batting first. In response, RCB comfortably defeated Delhi with 22 balls to spare.

Smriti Mandhana, RCB’s captain, made a crucial decision by choosing to bowl first, which ultimately proved to be the right call. Although Delhi lost Shefali Verma’s wicket early on, a 59-run partnership between Meg Lanning and Jemima Rodriguez provided them with a decent start. Rodriguez scored 34 runs, but the team struggled to form substantial partnerships thereafter. It was Sarah Bryce who played a vital role in helping Delhi Capitals reach a respectable score of 141 in the final overs.

RCB easily achieved the target

The partnership between Smriti Mandhana and Daniel Wyatt gave RCB a stellar start in their chase for 142 runs. Together, they almost sealed Bangalore’s victory with a 107-run partnership. Wyatt scored 42 runs, while Smriti Mandhana delivered a brilliant innings of 81 runs with the bat. In the 17th over, Richa Ghosh hit a six, securing the win for the Bengaluru team.

Smriti Mandhana is on a roll in T20 matches, having scored 81 runs against Delhi Capitals. Although she was dismissed for just 9 runs against Gujarat Giants, her overall performance in T20 matches has been spectacular. In her last 6 T20 innings, she has scored an impressive 324 runs, with four fifties to her name. Following this win, RCB has taken the top spot on the table with 4 points from two matches.
