BCB president Nazmul Hasan, however, dismissed reports that Sriram has been appointed as the national team coach. Sriram has also previously worked with the Australian cricket team. He will be here to work until the T20 World Cup. A senior BCB official said the 46-year-old Sriram’s long coaching experience with the Australian team and the IPL Royal Challengers Bangalore team impressed the board who chose him for a short period.

Hassan said: “Associating him (Sriram) with us, we considered a few things. One is his involvement in IPL and we also wanted someone who is involved in top-level T20 cricket and has experience. The World Cup is also in Australia. and he has worked in Australia for a long time. For these two reasons, he was included as a technical adviser.

Shriram has a lot of experience in coaching

Let us tell you that Sriram represented India in eight ODIs between 2000 and 2004. Apart from this, he has also served as Australia’s spin bowling assistant and coach for a long time. Sriram has worked with former Australian trainer Darren Lehmann. He was given responsibility as spin bowling coach in 2016. He had recently resigned from that position to concentrate on his role with Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB).

However, BCB boss Hasan said a decision on Sriram’s long-term tenure would be made after assessing his performance at the Asian Cup from next week. “We will have to see Sriram in the Asian Cup and then decide based on his performance whether we keep him or look for someone else,” he said.
