The Royal Challengers Bengaluru suffered a crushing 8-wicket defeat at their home ground, M Chinnaswamy Stadium, on Wednesday. Gujarat Titans effortlessly chased down the target of 170 runs. This loss marked RCB’s first defeat of the season, having won their previous two matches.
RCB captain Rajat Patidar attributed the loss to the team’s poor performance in the powerplay, where they lost three crucial wickets. The first blow came when Virat Kohli was dismissed for 7 runs in the second over. Patidar admitted that the early wickets hindered the team’s plans to score around 190 runs.
Despite the setback, Patidar praised his bowlers for their efforts in stretching the match till the 18th over. He also commended the batting performances of Jitesh Sharma, Liam Livingstone, and Tim David, saying it was a positive aspect of the game for RCB. The team remains confident in their batting unit and is focused on moving forward.
Following the loss, RCB slipped to third place in the points table, while Gujarat Titans remained fourth despite their win. Punjab Kings and Delhi Capitals climbed to the top two spots.
