Rays top Guardians on homers by Lowe and Yandy Diaz

Brandon Lowe and Yandy Diaz homered, and the Tampa Bay Rays beat the Cleveland Guardians 6-4 on Saturday.

The Rays were coming off two straight losses, with one run and 10 singles in 18 innings.

Corey Kluber (7-6) allowed nine runs on eight hits while posting a season-high 10 strikeouts in six innings. He improved to 2-0 in two starts against Cleveland, the team with which he won the American League Cy Young Award in 2014 and 2017.

Peter Fairbanks struck out Jose Ramirez on three pitches with two on and two out in the ninth for his second save.

Andrés Giménez homered for the Guardians, who are 5-5 in an 11-game road series.

Zach Plesac, who hasn’t won in his last few starts, allowed five runs and seven hits in five innings.

Cleveland rookie Steven Kwan extended his hitting streak to 13 games with a fifth-inning double.

For the Guardians, the Dominicans Amed Rosario 5-1, José Ramírez 5-2 with two runs scored and Franmil Reyes 4-1. The Venezuelan Andrés Giménez 4-2 with a run scored and three RBIs.

For the Rays, the Cubans Yandy Díaz 4-1 with a run scored and two RBIs, Randy Arozarena 4-0. Venezuelan René Pinto 4-2 with an RBI.
