Rayo Vallecano Suffers Pre-Season Defeat to Vitoria Guimaraes
Rayo Vallecano, gearing up for their return to LaLiga EA Sports competition on August 18 against Real Sociedad, faced a 2-0 loss to Vitoria Guimaraes in their second pre-season test this Saturday.
Portuguese striker Jota Silva scored the first goal in the 54th minute, while Marco Cruz added the second in the 68th minute. The visiting team had two previous chances in the first half, with one shot being cleared by goalkeeper Miguel Morro and the other being repelled by the crossbar.
Rayo Vallecano, however, had a few opportunities of their own. Raúl de Tomás was saved by the rival goalkeeper in the early minutes, and then they attempted to equalize on two occasions before conceding the 2-0 lead, ultimately rendering their efforts futile.
Íñigo Pérez made changes to the starting lineup, with half of the team’s original eleven replaced, including goalkeeper Miguel Morro making his debut after returning from his loan spell. In the second half, Pérez replaced nearly his entire starting eleven, keeping only Marco on the field.
