Previously, Bishnoi was the top wicket-taker for India in the Under-19 World Cup. But now this record has been registered in Soumi’s name.
Soumi performed brilliantly at the 2024 U19 World Cup. He was the highest wicket-taker for India. He took 18 wickets in 7 innings. This broke Ravi Bishnoi’s record. Bishnoi held the record of taking the most wickets for India in the Under-19 World Cup. In 2020, he took 17 wickets. But now Soumi is ahead with 18 wickets.
Somi Pandey took four wickets for just 24 runs against Bangladesh. He took 4 wickets for 19 runs against New Zealand. He took 4 wickets for 29 runs against Nepal. Soumi took three wickets against Ireland. He also picked up a wicket each against South Africa and the USA.
Team India performed very well this time. In the semi-final it defeated South Africa by 2 wickets. He then made it to the final. India had defeated Bangladesh by 84 runs in their first match. Ireland were then defeated by 201 runs. Also won against USA by 201 runs. New Zealand were defeated by a margin of 214 runs. Team India had defeated Nepal by 132 runs.
