Former Indian Spinner Ravi Ashwin’s Verdict on Rishabh Pant’s Batting
Rishabh Pant’s performance in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy against Australia was a mixed bag. Despite a remarkable innings in the second Test at Sydney, his overall form was a cause for concern. However, former Indian off-spinner Ravi Ashwin has come out in support of the young wicketkeeper-batsman, stating that Pant has the potential to score a century in every match.
Ashwin’s Advice to Pant
Ashwin believes that Pant’s defensive skills are impressive, but he needs to curb his aggressive instincts to achieve consistency. The former spinner emphasized that while Pant has an array of shots, including the reverse sweep and slog sweep, these shots come with a high risk of getting out. Ashwin suggested that Pant should strive to find a middle path, reducing the number of risky shots and focusing on playing more responsibly.
Pant’s Sydney Test Innings
Ashwin praised Pant’s innings in the Sydney Test, where he scored 61 runs in just 33 balls in the second innings. Although the Indian team lost the match, Pant’s performance was a silver lining. In the first innings, Pant had scored 40 runs in 98 balls, but his second innings effort was a testament to his potential.
