Raúl Valdés and Rubén Sosa join the training of the Bulls

The pitcher Raúl Valdés, the outfielders Rubén Sosa, Carlos Rincón and Esteury Ruiz and the infielder Wendell Rijo are part of the last integrations that they have received in the Toros del Este in their preseason training, with a view to the 2021-22 campaign that begins next October 27.

Valdes reported ready and threw three innings in the blank game against the Eastern Stars, declaring himself fit for any game designated by Lino Rivera once the season begins.

“It gives us great peace of mind to be able to have Sosa and Raúl early,” said Lino Rivera, bullfighting foreman. “It has been very nice to see Esteury Ruiz, a very versatile player who has looked very good in training and preseason games,” added Rivera.

Sosa has been one of the main figures for the Toros in recent seasons and is coming off a .304 / .381 / .402 offensive line with the Tigres de Quintana Roo in Mexico.

Rincon, a 23-year-old outfielder, hit 22 home runs and drove in 77 runs at the AA branches of the Los Angeles Dodgers and New York Mets, a team to which he was traded midseason.

Ruiz, 22, is coming off stealing 36 bases and hitting 10 home runs in 309 with the San Antonio Missions, the AA branch of the San Diego Padres.

Other additions in recent times include pitcher Angel Felipe of the Rays and Luis Ledo of the Chicago White Sox.

Ledo finished 4-1, 4.17 with 52 strikeouts in 41 innings at the AA branch, while Felipe finished 3-0, 2.59 with 78 strikeouts in 62.2 innings in Class A and Advanced Class A.

The Bulls are scheduled to receive more player integrations this week, including some imported ones.

The bullfighting troop will be facing the Leones del Escogido this Thursday in a preseason game in Baseball City, Boca Chica.
