Raúl Fernández injured in Sepang MotoGP training accident

The first day of MotoGP training in Sepang was quite eventful. Many riders experienced falls during the morning session. Jorge Martín was the first to fall, on curve 1, and he fell again on curve 2. As a precautionary measure, Aprilia decided to take him to the hospital for a check-up.

Later, Fabio Di Giannantonio also had an incident. This was his first time riding the Ducati GP25 after undergoing surgery on his left shoulder at the end of last year. Although he lost his balance, he did not suffer any physical harm. Pedro Acosta and Ai Ogura also fell, but they were able to continue riding without any issues.

Raúl Fernández’s Accident

Raúl Fernández had a severe fall, which almost completely destroyed his KTM bike. His team reported that he suffered a fracture in a metacarpal of his right hand and another on his left foot. While both injuries are a concern, the fracture in his right hand is more worrisome. His team will conduct a thorough review to assess the extent of his injuries.

Leadership in the Rankings

Despite the numerous falls and red flags, some riders were able to avoid any mishaps and took a more relaxed approach. Fabio Quartararo dominated the mid-day rankings. He had already participated in the ‘Shakedown’ the previous day, thanks to the concessions granted to Yamaha.
