Rat Magawa has died in Cambodia. The animal was a super sleuth and could detect land mines. The rat received a prize for this in 2020.

Magawa has located more than 100 landmines in his life. The rat retired six months ago.

Magawa recognized the smell of explosives, walked over to it, then began to dig. This way people knew where the bombs were and could safely defuse them.

Because Magawa was very light, the land mines didn’t go off when he walked over them.

Magawa didn’t die from a bomb, just old age. He is 8 years old and that is quite old for a rat. Many people consider Magawa a hero.
