Rashid Khan, star player of the Afghan team, has now made a U-turn in his decision to play in Australia next season of T20 league Big Bash League. In 2022, Australia refused to play the three-game ODI series against Afghanistan. After that, Rashid Khan had threatened not to play in the Big Bash League. The Australian team’s decision not to compete in the ODI series was due to various restrictions imposed by the Taliban government in Afghanistan on the girls there.
Commenting on the Australian team’s decision not to take part in the ODI series, Rashid Khan said: If Australia have problems playing Afghanistan, how can I feel comfortable playing in the Big Bash League myself? That’s why I’ll be seriously thinking about my future at this tournament.
According to the Australian Associated Press, 24-year-old Rashid Khan’s name is now included in the official list for the upcoming BBL season. Rashid has spoken to the officials about it, while showing a soft stance towards the game next season.
In addition to Rashid Khan, three other players from Afghanistan are included in the official draft list of foreign players for the upcoming Big Bash League season. In it the names of Mujeeb ur Rehman, Noor Ahmed and Izhar ul Haq Naveed are included in the list. The upcoming Big Bash League season begins on December 7th, while the final game will be played on January 24th. Looking ahead to the T20 World Cup in 2024, this T20 league will be very important.
