Rashford: ‘I was in an inconsistent environment for a long time’

It’s tough to be an athlete. Everyone sees the highlight reels, the big goals, the incredible passes. What they don’t always see is the constant pressure to perform, day in and day out. Marcus Rashford, the talented English international currently making waves at Barcelona, knows this struggle well. He recently opened up about his desire for more consistency in his game, calling it a vital part of any football player’s journey.

Rashford, on loan from Manchester United, admits that finding that steady rhythm has been a real challenge for him. “Without a doubt,” he shared in an interview with ITV while with the England squad. “Consistency is a huge part. I feel like I’ve been in a pretty inconsistent environment for a long time. That makes it even harder to stay consistent yourself.” He’s clearly thought a lot about this.

He went on to explain that it’s not just about what happens on the pitch. “I agree. Consistency is what I need to bring to my game,” he added. “I’m working on it. To be consistent, in sports or in life, you need steady things around you. You need a regular way of training, for example. My career has seen so many changes up to now. But I have to look forward. Fixing this is definitely one of my main goals. I want to play my best more often.”

Rashford came up through the ranks at Manchester United. However, he found it difficult to nail down a regular spot under manager Ruben Amorim. This led to a move to Aston Villa in January. Now, he’s wearing the famous Barcelona shirt. Things seem to be looking up in Spain, as he’s already bagged 3 goals and provided 5 assists in just 10 games. It appears he’s finding some of that consistent rhythm he craves.
