Ranji Trophy 2021-2022: Bihar’s Sakibul Ghani made history against Mizoram, scored a triple century in debut match

In the first match of the 2021-22 Ranji Trophy, Bihar’s Sakibul Ghani made history by scoring a triple century against Mizoram in his debut match. Saqib became the first player in the world to achieve this feat in the debut match of first-class cricket. Shakib played an excellent inning of 341 runs on 405 balls, which included 56 fours and 2 sixes.

Ghani, who played for the Bihar cricket team, broke Madhya Pradesh’s Ajay Rohera’s record for first-class cricket. Rohera set the record in the year 2019 by playing 237 runs unbeaten in the debut match of his first-class cricket. Ghani completed his triple century in 387 balls. This match between Bihar and Mizoram will be played at Jadavpur University Cricket Ground in Bengal.

In this season’s first Ranji Trophy match, Bihar captain Babul Kumar also scored a double century. Due to these excellent innings from Saqib and Babul, Bihar had scored 645 runs from losing wickets in the early innings. Ghani shared a record partnership of 557 runs with Babul Kumar for fourth wicket.

Let us tell you that the record for the largest partnership in first class cricket is held by Kumar Sangakkara and Mahela Jayawardene of Sri Lanka. Both had added 624 runs against South Africa in 2006.
