Ranbir Kapoor reveals directorial ambition, writing two film ideas for future debut

Ranbir Kapoor, one of the film industry’s brightest stars, recently celebrated his 43rd birthday on September 28. To mark the special day, he decided to connect with his fans directly through an Instagram live session. Fans poured in with questions, and Ranbir, known for his candidness, didn’t hold back. Among the many queries, one particular question sparked a lot of excitement: Would he ever step behind the camera and direct a film?

Ranbir answered this burning question with an enthusiastic “yes.” He shared that he’s incredibly keen to direct a movie. In fact, he revealed he’s already started exploring the world of screenwriting. “I’m currently developing two ideas,” he told his audience. He added that these two important projects are on his list, and he plans to work on them over the next few years. It looks like we might be seeing Ranbir not just on screen, but also calling the shots very soon.

During the same session, Ranbir also gave updates on his upcoming acting projects. Fans were eager to know about “Animal Park,” the follow-up to his blockbuster hit “Animal.” Ranbir confirmed that work on “Animal Park” is scheduled to begin in 2027. Director Sandeep Reddy Vanga has already discussed the film’s concept with him. Ranbir expressed his excitement, praising its amazing characters and music. He’s really looking forward to getting into character for this one.

He also touched upon “Brahmastra 2,” a highly anticipated sequel. Ranbir mentioned that Ayan Mukerji is busy writing the film. Everyone expects it to arrive in cinemas sometime soon.

Beyond these exciting projects, Ranbir Kapoor has a packed schedule. He currently has two major films in the pipeline. First up is Nitesh Tiwari’s epic “Ramayana.” This grand production will be released in two parts. The first part is aiming for a Diwali 2026 release, with the second part following in Diwali 2027. In “Ramayana,” Ranbir will portray Lord Ram, and Sai Pallavi will take on the role of Sita.

His second big film is Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s “Love and War.” This movie will see Ranbir sharing the screen with Alia Bhatt and Vicky Kaushal. The film is described as a love triangle and is expected to hit theaters in 2026. It’s clear that whether he’s acting or preparing to direct, Ranbir Kapoor is keeping busy and fans have plenty to look forward to.
