Ramos resists against Pouille and Munar cannot with Karatsev

Albert Ramos ended a three-year slump on Tuesday without exceeding the first round of the US Open by winning with suffering in five sets the talented Frenchman even though he came Lucas pouille. The Catalan walked a tightrope with a break down in the fourth set, but forced the fifth and won with a break in the last game: 6-1, 5-7, 5-7, 7-5 and 6-4 3:40. Albert will have a top rival on Thursday, German Alexander Zverev, a finalist last year.

Ramos patiently endured Pouille’s barrage of winners (85, 18 of them from direct service) and he did so by failing far less than his rival. He needed precision to take advantage of the opportunities presented to him against a tennis player who was always good at him (4-1 in the face-to-face). However, he subtracted with 5-3 against and raised two match points

Munar falls to the sensation Karatsev

Jaume Munar was not able to overcome this Tuesday at the US Open the great sensation of the Australian Open, the Russian Aslan Karatsev, who was a complete stranger (in fact the Spaniard easily beat him four years ago in a Challenger in Zuhai) before reaching the semifinals of the first Grand Slam of the year and is now a very difficult opponent to beat. The Mallorcan stayed at the gates of the second round of the tournament for the third consecutive year after losing by 7-5, 1.6, 6.3 and 6-2 at 3:07. Karatsev will face Mager or Thompson on Thursday.

The good Aslan endorsed Munar a pack of winning shots, 57 (only six from direct service), almost three times more than the 19 he posted. He cared little about accumulating the same number of unforced errors (57). He rebuilt after a bad second set and then put the direct path to victory.
