Ramón Díaz arrived in Rio de Janeiro to assume Vasco da Gama

Argentine coach Ramón Díaz arrived in Rio de Janeiro on Wednesday to take charge of Vasco Da Gama’s squad this afternoon, team that shares the last place in the Brazilian first division tournament with América Mineiro. For the man from La Rioja it is a great challenge, since must lift a large team that is in the relegation zone completed more than the first third of the tournament.

In the morning, Díaz and his son Emiliano arrived at the Galeão International Airport, in Rio de Janeiro, and shortly after signed a contract until December 2024as reported by the newspaper Globe Sports.

The 63-year-old coach from La Rioja was received by some fans and journalists in the airport lounge and heard requests for reinforcements, including that of the Argentine midfielder Manuel Lanzini, the most requested after having played at a very high level in another team from Rio de Janeiro, Fluminense, in the 2011-2012 season.

From the airport, Díaz went directly to the Moacyr Barbosa Sports field, in Cidade de Deus, where he visited the training facilities and was introduced to the squad.

Díaz will lead his first training session in the afternoon. Vasco postponed the match against América Mineiro for the 15th day, so the coach from La Rioja will have 11 days of work until his next appointment with the Brasileiraowhich will be against Athletico Paranaense on July 23.
