Ram Gopal Varma Claims Police Drank with Him Instead of Arresting

Ram Gopal Varma’s got a history of making headlines – not just for his films like “Rangeela”, “Satya”, and “Company”, but for his straight-shooting comments too. His Twitter feed’s often a hotbed of controversy, and he’s faced several cases because of it. In a recent interview with “Game Changers”, RGV dropped a bombshell. He claimed that cops once showed up at his office to arrest him over some of his tweets, but ended up having a couple of drinks with him instead and leaving him off the hook.

RGV said he’d posted some tweets a few years back without thinking much about them. But things escalated quickly, and Mahesh Bhatt even called him to warn that his tweets were stirring up a hornet’s nest. RGV admitted he’d already forgotten what he’d posted by then.

What went down that day

The director said around 6-7 cases were filed against him over the tweets. While they were trying to consolidate all the cases, the police landed up at his office. But by then, the court had overturned the law in question, leaving the cops confused about how to proceed. So, they hung out with RGV, had a few drinks, and eventually left.

RGV’s tweet game

RGV confessed that he doesn’t always think before tweeting. Sometimes, he does it just to rile people up. He said, “Most of my tweets are out of ignorance, but sometimes I do it to provoke or annoy someone.”

No time for comments

RGV’s not too fazed about social media trolling, though. He’s said before that he rarely checks the comments on his posts and never reads them. “Once I’ve posted something, I rarely go back to see what people are saying. I don’t read comments. I’ve already said what I wanted to say.”
