Hold onto your hats, folks! Rajkummar Rao, the king of relatable characters, just dropped a bombshell. His new movie, ‘Maalik,’ shows him in a whole new light. For a while, Rajkummar had been sticking to similar roles. But this film breaks that mold. He’s trading the sweet lover boy act for something much darker.
The ‘Maalik’ trailer landed today. It’s packed with raw action. We see Rajkummar Rao like never before. He’s shedding serious blood. This is his first time truly playing a full-fledged gangster. The trailer is full of wild shootouts and powerful lines.
One line from the trailer really hits hard. Someone warns him, “You’re the son of a helpless father. Don’t try to be something you’re not.” But then Rajkummar picks up a gun. He’s out to prove them wrong. The two-minute, forty-five-second trailer pulls you right in. It shows his journey from an ordinary guy to a brutal gangster. Then he sets his sights even higher. He wants to become a politician, an MLA. The movie will show if he makes it. It also shows what happens next for this gangster.
But it’s not just Rajkummar in the spotlight. Manushi Chhillar plays his wife. You’ll also spot familiar faces like Swanand Kirkire, Saurabh Shukla, and Anshuman Pushkar. Even Huma Qureshi makes a quick appearance in a song sequence. The story takes us back to 1988. It’s set in Allahabad, now known as Prayagraj, in Uttar Pradesh. Saurabh Shukla is back as a powerful politician. He played a similar role in the film ‘Red’. Swanand Kirkire also plays a leader, much like his character in ‘Panchayat Season 4’.
Watching the trailer, you might guess some parts of the story. But Rajkummar Rao’s new look is the big surprise. It’s truly what makes this film stand out. This film is also a huge deal for Manushi Chhillar. She was once Miss World. But her first three films didn’t do well. Even working with big stars like Akshay Kumar in two films, and Vicky Kaushal in another, didn’t help. ‘Maalik’ offers her a fresh start. She needs this one to shine.
