The world of celebrity relationships always holds a few surprises. Now, Anita Advani, who was very close to the late Bollywood icon Rajesh Khanna, has shared some truly unexpected news. She claims they were actually married.
Rajesh Khanna was famous for his amazing acting. People also talked a lot about his love story, marriage, and split from actress Dimple Kapadia. Yet, another name, Anita Advani, has often come up when discussing his life. She recently opened up about her private connection with Khanna, saying they tied the knot.
A Private Ceremony
Anita Advani spoke about her bond with the legendary actor in a chat with Meri Saheli magazine. “We had a private wedding,” she said. “But in the film world, no one talks openly about these things. Everyone says, ‘We are friends’ or ‘We are in a relationship.'” She added that the media already knew they were together. Because of this, neither of them felt the need to publicly announce their marriage.
Advani shared touching details about how Rajesh Khanna showed his commitment. They had a small temple inside their home. “I had a mangalsutra made,” she explained, referring to a special black beaded gold necklace. “He put it on me. Then he applied sindoor,” which is a red vermilion powder. She remembered him saying, “From today, you are my responsibility.”
Before Dimple Kapadia
Anita Advani also revealed she was part of Rajesh Khanna’s life even before his well-known marriage to Dimple Kapadia. “Yes, I came into his life before Dimple Kapadia,” she confirmed. She explained why they didn’t formalize things back then: “But I didn’t marry him because I was very young at the time.” After a while, she went back to Jaipur.
The story takes a sad turn when she spoke of Khanna’s passing. When she tried to see him one last time after his death, she was not allowed. Bouncers stopped her from entering.
The Final Farewell
Rajesh Khanna passed away in Mumbai on July 18, 2012. He had been sick for a long time. The beloved actor was 69 years old when he left this world. His personal life, it seems, held secrets and layers even after his passing.
