Rajasthan Royals Fined Heavily, Sanju Samson Loses 24 Lakhs

Sanju Samson, the captain of the Rajasthan Royals, has been fined 2.4 million rupees. This penalty comes after his team was found guilty of a slow over rate in their match against the Gujarat Titans. It’s not the first time Samson has been fined for this reason.

The whole Rajasthan Royals team felt the impact. The BCCI released a statement saying Samson and his team were fined for the slow over rate in match 23 of the IPL 2025. According to the IPL rules, specifically article 2.2, Samson had to pay 2.4 million rupees. The rest of the playing eleven and the impact player had to pay 600,000 rupees or 25% of their match fee.

The Gujarat Titans are now at the top of the table. They scored 217 runs, thanks to a great 82-run innings by Sai Sudarshan. The Rajasthan Royals could only manage 159 runs in response, losing by 58 runs. This win put the Gujarat team, led by captain Shubman Gill, at the top of the points table. They have won four out of five matches so far.

Gujarat’s only loss in the IPL 2025 was to the Punjab Kings, and that was a close 11-run defeat. Players like Sai Sudarshan, Jos Buttler, and captain Shubman Gill are doing well with the bat. On the bowling side, Sai Kishore, Mohammed Siraj, and now Prasidh Krishna, who took three wickets against Rajasthan, are also showing great form.
