The bad weather caused the death of seven bathers in Hérault and Bouches-du-Rhône on Wednesday.
In the Hérault, the victims, aged between 64 and 73, had gone to bathe while the weather conditions caused the formation of large waves and dangerous underwater currents.

Rescue workers also saved seven people.
In the Bouches-du-Rhône, a 58-year-old man died in Cassis and another of 71 in La Ciotat.
