The Estrellas Orientales defeated the Águilas Cibaeñas 2-1 this Thursday in a match held at the Cibao Stadium in Santiago in the continuation of the 2022-2023 autumn-winter baseball tournament.
Rainer Núñez was the All-Star “Star Player” when he homered in the ninth inning to break a 1-1 tie against reliever Richard Rodríguez.
It was the second victory in a row for the green school team (17-22), occupying fourth place in the standings and now taking two games ahead of the Toros del Este (15-24), who fell 1- 0 for Tigres del Licey (24-13) at the Francisco Micheli Stadium in La Romana in 11 innings.
For the Águilas, who stopped a four-victory streak, they had their best offensive man in Wilmer Difó, driving in the only run for the Cibaeño team.
The match, which was scheduled to start at 7:30 p.m., began after eight o’clock due to the rains that have fallen in much of the country. In the eighth, the rain made an appearance again, with a delay of 20 minutes to restart the actions again.

The Eagles managed to score the first run of the game at the very end of the match. Cade Gotta doubled and was towed in by Wilmer Difó with a single to right field.
In the eighth, the Stars matched the shares at one run per side on José Tena’s single through left field.
In the ninth, the green team took control of the game, this time 2-1, as a result of a home run by Rainer Núñez to the left field.
