Rainbow Six Siege’s Biggest Update, Siege X, Now Available Free

Get ready for a major overhaul of Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Siege. The Siege X update is live, bringing a slew of changes and new content to the game. This massive update is free for all players on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PC (via Steam), and Ubisoft+ subscribers.

One of the most significant additions is the Dual Front mode, where teams of six players each – with a mix of attackers and defenders – battle it out to control territories. The twist? You can respawn, switch operators, and complete temporary missions in neutral sectors during the match. This new mode shakes up the traditional gameplay and requires strategic teamwork to win.

What’s new in Siege X?

The update includes a visual overhaul, with five classic maps – Clubhouse, Chalet, Border, Bank, and Kafe – getting a fresh coat of paint with new lighting, shadows, and resolution. Three more maps will get a similar treatment each season. You’ll also notice destructible elements like gas pipes, metal detectors, and fire extinguishers, which can be used to outmaneuver your opponents.

Movement has been tweaked, too. The rappel system now lets you move laterally and curve along walls, making it easier to navigate the maps. The audio has also been reworked, with more accurate reverberation and sound propagation, making it easier to pinpoint enemy positions.

The update also kicks off the second season of Year 10, Operation Daybreak. Ubisoft has reworked the Clash operator, who can now deploy a shield and control the taser remotely. The update also removes electric damage and reduces the impact of shots to arms and legs. With all these changes, Siege X is shaping up to be a major refresh for Rainbow Six Siege. Get ready to jump in and experience the new and improved gameplay for yourself.
