The controversy surrounding comedian Samay Raina and his show ‘India’s Got Latent’ continues to escalate. Following a police complaint and widespread trolling on social media, there are now demands to ban the show altogether. The All Indian Cine Workers Association has written to Union Home Minister Amit Shah and Information and Broadcasting Minister Ashwini Vaishnav, seeking a ban on the show.
Demand to ban Raina’s show
The All Indian Cine Workers Association condemned the show’s content, stating that it promotes pornographic material and crosses moral boundaries with its use of ugly language and comments about family and parents. The association believes that this type of content is unacceptable in a civilized society.
In their letter, the association further stated that the show is a cheap scheme to earn money, masquerading as a stand-up comedy talent show. They alleged that the comedians involved are using vulgar content to increase their subscribers on YouTube, gain attention, and rise to fame through controversies. The association has called for a criminal FIR to be registered against Ranveer Allahabadia, Samay Raina, Apoorva Makhija, Jaspreet Singh, Ashish Chanchalani, and others associated with the show.

The association has urged the Ministers to intervene in the matter and take immediate legal action to prevent further harm to society. They emphasized that this issue goes beyond stand-up comedy and is about preserving India’s cultural integrity and preventing personal gain through digital platforms. If stringent measures are not taken, the association fears that these content creators will continue to spread negativity and harm the country’s youth and values.

The latest episode of Raina’s show sparked outrage on social media when judge Ranveer Allahabadia made an objectionable statement about parents and sex while interacting with a contestant. The incident led to a police complaint being filed against Ranveer and Samay Raina, with many calling for them to be held accountable for their actions. Ranveer Allahabadia has since apologized for his controversial statement, but the backlash against the show continues to grow.
