Before the start of the IPL 2025 season, significant information has been released. Former Indian spinner Sairaj Bahutule has been appointed as the spin coach by the Rajasthan Royals. Prior to this appointment, Bahutule has worked with the Rajasthan Royals on several occasions. He is currently working at the National Cricket Academy in Bangalore but will soon join the Rajasthan Royals.
When Rahul Dravid was the head coach of the Indian team, Bahutule worked with Team India as a spin consultant. In addition to this, he has worked with the Rajasthan Royals for four seasons, from the IPL 2018 season to the IPL 2021 season. Bahutule made his debut for India in 1997 against Sri Lanka.
In his new role with the Rajasthan Royals, Bahutule will work alongside head coach Rahul Dravid and bowling coach Shane Bond from New Zealand. In a conversation, Bahutule stated that discussions are ongoing between him and the team, and he is close to joining the franchise. He expressed his excitement about rejoining the Rajasthan Royals and appreciated his past experience of working with Rahul Dravid.
Bahutule mentioned that during the last Border-Gavaskar Trophy series, Rahul Dravid had associated him with the Indian team as a spin coaching consultant. He was also part of the coaching staff in Sri Lanka. It is worth noting that Bahutule has represented the Indian team in five ODIs and two Tests.
